Derek Nash has 'Sax Appeal'

Charismatic saxophone ace Derek Nash takes a break from the Jools Holland Blues Band tour to bring his own multi award-winning octet to Chickenshed. Sax Appeal - featuring five top-name saxophone stylists and a sparkling rhythm section - perform Derek’s breath-taking arrangements of Jazz standards and superb originals.

Derek leads Julian Marc Stringle, Scott Garland, Bob McKay, and Matt Wates on the entire saxophone family, with Pete Adams on piano, Geoff Gascoyne on bass and Mike Bradley on drums.

During his illustrious career, Derek has written arrangements for David Sanborn and Martha Reeves, recorded with Don Grusin and Tom Jones and performed live with John Dankworth, Jamie Cullum, Humphrey Lyttelton, Oscar Castro Neves and Dave Grusin.

The warm-up act will be Maria Chiara Argiro Quartet with Maria on piano, Tal Janes on guitar, Seb Silas on sax, Theo Ziarkas on bass and Terry McGowan drums.

8.30pm-11.15pm (main act - includes 30mins interval)

Please note - Julian Marc Stringle, Matt Wates and Geoff Gascoyne have replaced the previously advertised Mornington Lockett, Gary Plumbley and Phil Scragg.
