Trusts & Foundations

Support from Trusts, Foundations and Livery Companies is a vital source of revenue for Chickenshed, accounting for more than one third of our income.

We aim to find creativity with all of our supporters - not just in our performance, education and outreach projects but also our fundraising – and by doing this we can ensure we have the financial resources to provide the services we have committed to those we work with.

Why Not Visit Us?

Many people do not realise how special our work is until they have visited. We would be delighted to welcome you to Chickenshed so you can see firsthand what a positive impact your support will have on the lives of the young people we work with.

Below are examples of current and ongoing projects:

  • Youth and Children's Theatre

We believe that every person who joins our company positively changes the way that we work. We regularly evaluate the strength of every individual, finding the creative environment that will allow their contribution to be productive. We aim to foster new and transferable skills within our membership as they develop through our inclusive theatre process.

  • 'Tales' Outreach Programme

Tales is a unique project that works with children aged up to seven years to tackle language breakdown, helping children from different backgrounds to understand one another and challenge social misconceptions.

  • 'Crime of the Century' Performance and Workshops

It is almost three years since 14-year-old Shaquille was stabbed to death outside his home in Hackney. Chickenshed’s production of ‘Crime of the Century’ is based on interviews with victims, perpetrators, families, surgeons, police officers and ex-offenders – real stories re-counted by those that have had firsthand experience of knife crime

  • Education at Chickenshed

Chickenshed changes lives by bringing young people from all social and economic backgrounds, races and abilities together, to study creatively alongside each other. These young people are often marginalised by society and excluded from mainstream education.

  • Access for All

Access for everyone is at the centre of Chickenshed’s vision. We don’t segregate or discriminate against adults with multiple needs; instead we actively target these people to ensure that they have access to our work.
