Chickenshed partner with River Island for a fashionable performance
Great fashion by leading UK brand River Island has provided the inspiration for Chickenshed's latest production, costuming the entire 120 member cast of Vanity Fair. River Island have been longstanding corporate supporters of Chickenshed, with their founder, Leonard Lewis, being one of our Trustees. But this production marks the first ever creative pairing.
The partnership came about following a meeting between Chickenshed's Development Team and freelance Costume & Set Designer Graham Hollick in November 2006. Having discussed his design ideas for Vanity Fair, it was immediately clear that River Island would be the perfect fit to approach with Graham's desire to plunge Thackeray’s classic into contemporary Britain. Chickenshed wanted to be the first to bring this new fashion for cross-sector creative partnerships into the world of theatre.
River Island is now internationally recognized as one of the UK’s most exciting and evolving fashion brands on the High Street, with over 200 stores and a growing international presence and over 50 years of fashion retailing experience.
Managing Director, Richard Bradbury, agreed to provide us with clothes, shoes and accessories from their new Spring 2007 collection for both our principle characters and for our ensemble, paving the way for an interesting and unique union between fashion and the arts.
For a sneak preview of the wonderful costumes, please keep checking the site as photos will be available shortly.
All items seen in the production are available at River Island stores nationwide and www.riverisland.com
