Behind the rehearsal process for "as the mother of a brown boy..."

Podcasts, diaries and video updates...

As our inclusive creative process is unique, we feel it is important that people understand what we do and how we do it, by sharing our methods and our processes. Therefore, every two weeks we will be bringing you updates on our rehearsal process for "as the mother of a brown boy...", allowing you access behind the scenes.

This includes a blog from Mekbul Jemal, a dancer from Ethiopia who is working with us on this project. Read about his unique take on the progression of the show and the differences of working and living in London versus Ethiopia.

We also bring you a podcast featuring two of the performers in the production, Dina Williams and Mark Lees. Each episode, they will give updates on what they've been doing in rehearsals, with the first podcast explaining their involvement with Chickenshed and why they work here.

And finally, you can see some footage of our rehearsal process for "as the mother of a brown boy..." giving you the unique chance to see how a production like this is created. As we workshop the scenes to get inspiration and test ideas, you will be able to see how the production starts to come to life and how we develop the beautiful, pioneering work that we do.
