ShedLink is our ever-growing network of individual Sheds, established by Chickenshed and working by our inclusive creative method.
Every Shed is different. Mostly, they grow from our outreach projects. Some start with regional arts professionals, keen to train in inclusive theatre. A local authority or business may want to regenerate a specific area. Or a group of parents push for change in their own community.
First, we must secure funding and recruit and train local practitioners. Over two years we establish a Shed that is independent from Chickenshed, but part of our growing network, ShedLink.
A Shed that is free to develop its own identity, but always working with our inclusive creative method. As word gets out, the most important people arrive – the children and young people from the local community who want somewhere they can belong where they can express themsleves through the performing arts. Working together they can forge creative relationships and partnerships with individuals they may not necessarily meet in school or in any other community setting.
There’s no national artistic programme or centralized control – what we share is our inclusive creative process. And a passion to widen participation, so more children and young people can benefit.

Chickenshed has sown a wonderful seed of creativity for Newham. Its dedicated people established a sort of incubator for new ideas to emerge. At this stage it is up to us, volunteering Arts Practitioners of New Shed Inc. to continue this challenging but extremely useful effort. Both practitioners and participants are very enthusiastic about this project. Chickenshed inspired everybody with their vision of 'theatre for all'. As volunteers we will make every possible effort to make sure the seed grows up to bear the fruits of achievement.
