In the mid 1990’s Chickenshed was commissioned to work in Wakefield at a school with a large Asian community. The task was to enable the school to communicate with the parents of students who often refused to enter the school to hear reports on their children or integrate into the life of the school in any way.

Chickenshed performed workshops with the students based on a touring production of The Attraction (by Chickenshed), working with them on their communication skills in particular, leading to a performance to their parents.

“I know that working with Chickenshed has had a profound effect on our children and is something that none of us will ever forget. We were especially pleased that some of the Asian families came to the theatre and supported their children’s performances. According to the theatre management it was the first time that any adult members of our Muslim community had ever set foot inside the theatre.”
