Chickenshed Summer School Programme
Chickenshed will be running its very successful Summer School again this year for students aged over 17 years. Week One of the course - ‘Behind the Scenes’ is a pre-requisite of Week Two – ‘Upfront’.

Chickenshed offers Summer School students the opportunity to get a unique insight into its artistic work and the inclusive theatre philosophy and practice that underpins its work. The Course will provide students with the chance to experience different aspects of the Company’s work through observation, practical participation and discussion.

Students will work with Chickenshed staff to begin to reflect on the range of its work in terms of artistic productions, Children’s and Youth Theatre workshop programmes, education and training programmes and Outreach community work – setting up new inclusive Children’s and Youth Theatres in other areas. On the way students will explore the positive ingredients that make-up successful inclusive theatre development and the barriers which exist in theatre and wider society that can hinder such development. Students will be encouraged to feel that their contributions to the Summer School also play a part in developing its future.
