25 Years of Chickenshed Education

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Education Programmes at Chickenshed.

Join us and celebrate 25 years of Chickenshed Education Programmes.

We are extremely proud of the externally commended teaching, learning and support provision that we have developed over 25 years. It is this, together with our externally commended engagement and enhancement processes, that makes a Chickenshed Education extremely valuable.

Over 70% of the young people who come to us experience some sort of challenge to their physical or mental health, together with other barriers to education participation including identified disadvantage or social and community exclusion. Many would not be accepted in other institutions due to past educational lived experience – yet 95% pass and go onto higher education, training and workplace opportunities.

- Paul Morrall, Director of Education and Training

PHOTOS THROUGH THE YEARS

This Summer, we will be leading a campaign to open up a conversation with institutions, central and local government, education bodies, and communities. To best unlock these conversations and exploration, we have produced a film that shows our transformational educational process in action - led by our students and packed with their own representations of their real-life stories - as well as advocated by external educational sources).

We are proud to launch our Student Enrichment Fund with a very special short fundraising video - offering the opportunity for anyone to provide Chickenshed students with a wide range of tools in their kit - things that will bolster their chances in the outside world.

EDUCATION FILM

Would you, your Trust, or your company like to invest in our extraordinary students by pledging £2,500 per annum for the next three years?

£2,500 as an annual investment would ensure that students could receive those all-important 'extra' opportunities - especially beneficial to those from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds.

These enrichment opportunities include:
  • leadership opportunities
  • outreach work with schools
  • providing inclusion training to organisations
  • mentoring and more

A Generation of Inclusive Minds

The Alumni Countdown...

The legacy of Chickenshed's 25 years of Inclusive Education is best seen reflected through our alumni, who have travelled in many directions, taking with them a shared and unique experience of Higher Education at Chickenshed. When we reached our 25th anniversary, we wanted to re-engage with as many of our ex-students as possible.

Below is a countdown. You could think of it as an 'Alumni Advent Calender', because behind each of the 25 doors is one of our Alumni reflecting on their personal experience of Chickenshed.

Join us from June 7th as we reveal the first box and roll back the clock to 1997. We will countdown 25 alumni, right up to this year's 2021 graduation!
