Graduation Day is always one of the most moving and poignant days on the Chickenshed calendar, and this year was no exception. On 30 June, as Mary Ward and Jo Collins, our Co-Founders now turned Guardians and Ambassadors, presented the certificates to our BTEC, Foundation Degree and BA Hons Degree students the theatre was full of celebration, dancing and a few tears - though it's possible those last were mainly from the staff!

With their official graduation ceremony at Middlesex University on 15 July, this was a special year for our BA Students who ran a very successful crowdfunding campaign taking their final shows to a combined audience of 450 at the Millfield Theatre, Edmonton and the Dugdale Centre, Enfield as well as a pupil referral unit in Tottenham on 19 July.  Their dynamic and powerful pieces Citizens of Where? and The way to Adulthood explored a number of themes including refugees and migration, adulthood and forced child labour in the Congo Republic, all of which were very well received. As a result, our Director of Education, Paul Morrall has been approached by many people asking if the students could put on the shows in their schools, venues or theatres.
