The Conundrum  by Alex Murtinheira

Just one of nine pieces combined to form monolog 3, our new selection of fresh writing from within the Chickenshed community. Showing at Chickenshed from 11 to 22 February.

Professor Henrick Logue is in the midst of a mystery, a predicament, a quandary. A perfect set of circumstances for the Professor. His world of a by-gone age in books and case studies have provided him with some form of purpose. An escape from the mediocrity of life.

As an eminent historian he specialises in deciphering ancient texts and artefacts. But in his line of work you are only as good as your last research findings. Although Logue's profession demands meticulous planning and resources, and an expectation to successfully provide insight into unknown scriptures and other objects, he is also content with the fact that in life, not all things have answers; or he tries to be at any rate.

The journey is a conundrum, but the destination is almost certain to have answers.
