About Tales Big Day Out

A joyful, jam-packed afternoon for all!

Big Day Out offers a variety of Big activities and even Bigger shows throughout the building and garden. In this Big Day Out the whole building becomes your playground, with fun round every corner.

There is something for everyone. Expect music, dancing, stories, puppet-making and arts and crafts - all delivered in Tales' signature inclusive style, with a splash of silliness!

Places are limited – early booking is recommended.

  • What can you expect?

    A variety of performances from arts & crafts, mini musical adventures, interactive storytelling and special moments with your favourite Tales characters.

  • Where will it be held?

    We will be all around the building and even outside in the garden!

  • What will your ticket include?

    A show programme on arrival, access to all shows on the day, stickers for the children and activities in the cafe area.

  • How long does it last?

    The whole event lasts for two hours, however you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish. You can pick and choose what you want to attend on the day. All performances are relaxed and informal so no need to worry about your child sitting still!

  • Tempo Tales: The Tambourine Who Needed a Beat

    A joyful, interactive storytelling adventure full of music, movement and audience participation.

    Join Tappy the Tambour as he journeys through the Forest of Harmony, discovering courage, confidence and friendship while meeting the Percussion Family. Children are invited to clap, sing, move and make music throughout this engaging performance.

    Presented by: Megan Audrey Bell

  • The Smallest Sardine of the Seven Seas

    Have you seen a pirate? She has a tale to tell!

    Join an original mini musical adventure helping a tiny fish find her confidence. Meet a piano-playing crab, search for hidden treasure and celebrate the things that make us all unique.

    A wonderful first theatre experience for young children and fun for the whole family.

    Presented by: Sardine Theatre

Seating

Seating is mostly on mats on the floor so that children and performers can freely move around the space. 

Chairs are available for anyone who would prefer not to sit on the floor.

Accessibility

We've got you covered with baby changing, disabled access, space to park buggies and even a cafè to get a tasty treat!

Limited free parking is available in front of the building.

If you have specific access requirements, feel free to contact us in advance so that we can make sure your needs are catered for.
