Tales from the Shed

Pull up a seat and get ready for some Tales magic. 

Tales from the Shed is Chickenshed's beloved Saturday morning show for babies, toddlers and young children. Each week, our brilliant performers bring a brand new story to life — full of music, movement, silliness and warmth. 

With two shows every Saturday (10am and 11:30am), it's the perfect start to the weekend for little ones and grown-ups alike. No experience needed — just come along, settle in and let the story begin.

Each carefully crafted Tales from the Shed show is packed with educational songs, movement, and language games, designed to support brain development and early learning in young children. We celebrate diversity and inclusion in everything we do, creating a space where all children - no matter their background or ability can take part and feel the magic of theatre.

Every week brings a brand-new theme, making each performance a unique adventure! Having worked alongside early years experts for over three decades, our diverse team brings stories to life with much-loved characters like Can-Can the beautiful bird, laid-back Lion Down, and the hilarious Thing That Goes Blurgh! 

These stories aren't just entertaining - they're designed to inspire creativity, promote emotional expression, and foster social interaction among children.

At Tales from the Shed, we believe in the power of performance to spark joy, curiosity, and connection. By encouraging participation, we invite children to actively engage with the stories, helping to create lasting memories and nurturing a love for learning.

Tales from the Shed is for children from 0-6 years only. With the exception of older siblings, no children over the age of 6 will be admitted.

Seating is mostly on mats on the floor so that children and performers can freely move around the space. Chairs are available for anyone who would prefer not to sit on the floor

You will need to purchase a ticket for everyone from the age of 6 months. If you are bringing a child under 6 months they are free of charge and you do not need to get them a ticket

We've got you covered with baby changing, disabled access, space to park buggies and even a cafè to get a tasty treat!Limited free parking is available in front of the building.
