How long will the walk take?

Depending on the pace that you walk, we anticipate approximately 45mins – 1 hour for the 5K and between 1.5 – 2 hours for the 10K, however it may take less or more time than this.

Where does the walk start and finish?

The walk will meet, start and finish at Chickenshed at 290 Chase Side, London N14 4PE.

What time is the walk?

We invite you to join us from 09.30am to collect your good bags and t-shirts and for the welcome reception.
There will be music, refreshments, face painting and merchandise available.

We will warm-up at approximately 10.45am and set off at approximately 11am.

What happens at the end of the walk?

When you finish the walk and arrive back at Chickenshed, we invite you to collect your finisher medal and join us at our Garden Party and enjoy free drink to celebrate your achievement and support!

Is there parking?

A limited number of free parking spaces will be available at the car park at Chickenshed.

The car park will close temporarily from 10.00am until 11.15am.

There is also chargeable parking available at Bramley Sports Ground and along the Cockfosters Road, along each side of parades of shops. Further free on street parking is available on the residential streets in the surrounding area.

Can young children join the walk?

Children of any age are welcome to join either walk however please bear in mind each individual’s ability to walk the distances.

Please note under 5s registrations do not receive a goody bag.

Are the routes accessible?

The routes are accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and prams however please note due to the nature of the area there are some hills along the 10k route. Specifically there are steady inclines located at Snakes lane and Prince George Avenue in Oakwood. The 5K accessible route runs alongside some of the 10K route at the beginning and then comes back on itself. The 5K route is flat with a few slightly uneven bumps/surfaces.

How do we know where to walk?

A detailed map will be available on the website and there will also be a printed copy of the route map available on the day for all walkers.
There will also be directional signage throughout the routes and KM markers.

There will also be a ‘back- walker’ who will be walking behind all the walkers on each route.

Will there be food and drink available?

We suggest you eat before the walk begins. All participants will receive a bottle of water in their goody bag. Food and drink will be available from the Chickenshed Café before setting off. There will also be a refill station approximately at the halfway point along the 10K route.
On return to the Chickenshed at the end of the walk, all participants will receive a celebratory glass of fizz or soft drink. The café will also be open to purchase additional food and drink and Wagamama will be offering a small assortment of Japanese food.

Will there be a bag drop?

Unfortunately there will not be a place to drop and leave bags.

Will there be toilets around the course?

Toilets are available at Chickenshed and venues taking part in the community toilet scheme. There will also be additional outlets confirmed nearer the time.

Will anyone be on the route in case of an emergency?

There will be marshals located throughout the routes who will be available to assist in the case of an accident or emergency. All marshals will also have staff contact details. In the case of an emergency marshals or staff will call the emergency services.

Do I get a walking number?

All walkers will be given walker numbers to fill in with their personal details and medical information. Numbers must be visible on the front or back of your t-shirt/clothing. Safety pins will be provided on the day.

What should I wear?

We encourage you to wear your Wonder Walk Chickenshed t-shirt, alongside any other comfortable clothing or sportswear. We suggest dressing suitably for weather conditions and wearing trainers or walking shoes. T-shirts can be collected from Chickenshed on specific days prior to the event, or from the designated collection point at Chickenshed on Sunday 9 Jun. We encourage you to accessorize your clothes however you wish!

Shall I bring anything?

We suggest you bring layers in case of changeable weather, as well as cash and card for merchandise and refreshments.

Will I be given anything on the day?

All walkers (excl Under 5s) will receive a goody bag including a can of water and some snacks. On return to Chickenshed all walkers will receive a finishers medal!

Can my dog join me?

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join the walk however please note only assistance dogs will be allowed inside Chickenshed premises.

What happens if it rains?

The walk will take place in all weather conditions unless conditions are deemed unsafe.

Will there be photography and videography?

Yes. We will be taking photos and videos throughout the event to use in publicity material, our website, newsletters, online and social media sites. If you do not want your photo to be taken, please speak to a member of staff on the day or email louiset@chickenshed.org.uk in advance.

I have registered, what happens next/

After registering online you will receive a welcome email within 48 working hours confirming your registration and giving you more information about the event.

What does the registration fee pay for?

Your registration fee covers the costs of running the event, your goody bag and t-shirt, meaning that all your hard-earned sponsorship will go direct to Chickenshed.

I have registered and can no longer take part, what shall I do?

Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds for individuals who register and then cannot make it. However, if you have a friend who may want to take your place, you can transfer the registration for a £5 via the Enthuse.com platform. You will receive details to your registration pages on registration.

Can I run the Wonder Walk?

The Wonder Walk is not a run or a race, but you can run should you wish to.

Can I bring extra people?

You can bring extra people, but please note they will need to register and pay the applicable registration fees in order to take part.

What is the minimum expected for fundraising for the walk?

We’re suggesting a minimum sponsorship amount of £100 per person to help us achieve our goal of raising £40,000
