Chickenshed offers plenty of exciting volunteering opportunities, ranging from behind-the-scenes involvement in our annual Christmas show to front-of-house and office support roles.

Volunteer Contract & Compliance Advisor

We are seeking an experienced professional to volunteer as a Contract & Compliance Advisor. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in law, compliance, procurement, or contract negotiation, who would like to use their expertise to support a values-led charity.

  • Front of House

    A Front of House Volunteer provides a warm welcome and a safe environment to ensure our audiences enjoy their experience. You will join a friendly diverse team and receive full training and guidance.

    We are not currently recruiting Front of House Volunteers.

  • Backstage

    We have opportunities for volunteers to support us Backstage during the Christmas Productions which run from November to January. 

    We will post an update here in the Autumn - we are not recruiting right now. 

  • Set Painting

    If you have artistic skills, you can sign up for our set painting weekend which takes place in October – playing an important role in getting the set ready for the Christmas show.

  • Tales from the Shed

    Tales from the Shed are vibrant, inclusive and interactive theatre shows that are perfect for young children. If you have performance or artistic skills, we would like to hear from you!

    We are looking for volunteers to be involved in our summer programme of events.  All performers will need to be aged over 18 years. We will also consider offering placements to students on Applied Theatre courses. 

  • Gardening

    Gardening Club is a welcoming, practical activity that supports wellbeing, connection and care for our shared outdoor spaces. If you enjoy working outside or want to learn new skills, we would like to hear from you!

    We are looking for adult volunteers to take part in our Gardening Club, helping to maintain and improve Chickenshed’s gardens and grounds. No previous experience is required and activities can be adapted to suit different abilities.
